Dr. Jutta Köglmeier
After completing my general paediatric training in Yorkshire, I moved to London in 2004 for higher specialist training in paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. Placements included the Royal London Hospital, King’s College Hospital, Great Ormond Street and The Royal Free.
I became a Consultant in September 2007 at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital where I took up the role of lead clinician in paediatric Nutrition. In August 2010 I joined the Gastroenterology team at Great Ormond Street Hospital. My main areas of interest are focused on the management of children with intestinal failure on long term intravenous nutrition and/or complex tube feeding both in hospital and at home. I am the clinical lead for the Unit of Nutrition and Intestinal Failure Rehabilitation, and I work closely together with the intestinal transplant services at King’s College Hospital as part of a multidisciplinary assessment service for patients who have been referred for small bowel transplantation. In addition, I have an interest in the pancreas and lead the specialist services for children with Shwachman Diamond Syndrome and Cystic fibrosis associated gut disease.
I am actively involved in the British Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (BSPGHAN) where I have been on council in the past as chair of the nutrition and intestinal failure working group (2016-2019) and as chair of the education working group (2022-2025). In addition, I strongly believe in the collaboration with colleagues and health professionals across Europe and world-wide to promote high standards of care to children with gastrointestinal, liver and nutritional health related problems. I have hence chaired the ESGPHAN working group Network for Intestinal Failure in Europe - NITE (2016-2022) and have been a member of the ESPGHAN Committee of Nutrition until recently (2019-2025). I remain actively involved in national and international societies.
