Short Biography

Prof. Dr. Arved Weimann
is an experienced surgeon and expert in clinical and perioperative nutrition. He previously served as Head of the Department for General, Visceral and Oncological Surgery and Clinical Nutrition Unit at St. George Hospital in Leipzig and as Associate Professor of Surgery at Hannover Medical School. His research focuses on surgical metabolism, perioperative nutrition therapy, and nutritional care of high‑risk and critically ill patients. Prof. Weimann chaired the ESPEN Guidelines on Clinical Nutrition in Surgery Update 2025. He currently serves as Associate Editor of Nutrition and Annals of Nutrition & Metabolism, and has authored over 250 peer‑reviewed publications. He also holds a Master’s degree in Medical Ethics.
