NUTRITION-on

Oncology patient

At Fresenius Kabi, we believe that medical nutrition is at the very heart of preserving the person behind the disease.

Guided by this conviction, we developed NUTRITION-on, a dedicated program that proactively ensures medical nutrition is addressed early in oncology care, systematically, and with clinical intent. Our ultimate purpose it to support the patients to maintain their nutritional status and have better treatment tolerance as well as to help preserve patients’ strength, resilience, and identity throughout their cancer journey – supporting  clinicians in the dual mission of treating the tumour and caring for the person living with it.

Because there is incomplete cancer care without early nutrition care.

The person behind the patient

In oncology, every decision is driven by the desire to find the most successful cancer treatment for clinical response and to prolong overall survival, progression free survival and a patient’s overall well-being. Long before disease progression limits treatment options, malnutrition and metabolic changes start unnoticed; affecting not only treatment tolerance, but also a patient’s engagement, and ability to live life to the fullest. The accompanying loss of appetite, weight loss, muscle mass loss and strength are far more than nutritional issues; they signal the gradual erosion of the person behind the disease. Early nutritional screening and intervention helps patients maintain their nutritional status, which in turn helps them remain on therapy longer, complete treatment, avoid dose reductions and ultimately better fight cancer with improved progression-free survival.
