Annika Reintam Blaser, MD, PhD
Annika Reintam Blaser graduated from the University of Tartu, Estonia, and subsequently worked as a consultant in the General ICU at Tartu University Hospital. She later served as Head of the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at East Tallinn Central Hospital. Currently, she works as a Senior Consultant in the ICU at Lucerne Cantonal Hospital, Switzerland, and as an Associate Professor at the University of Tartu, Estonia.
Her main research interests include gastrointestinal dysfunction and nutrition in critically ill patients, acute mesenteric ischaemia, and intra-abdominal hypertension. She has been awarded two grants from the Estonian Research Council: PRG1255, focusing on acute mesenteric ischaemia (2021–2025), and PRG3121, focusing on gastrointestinal dysfunction, which has been ongoing since 2026.
