Dr. Alice Sabatino

Short Biography

Dr. Alice Sabatino
is a post doctoral researcher at Novum, Division of Renal Medicine, Karolinska Institute and a renal dietitian at Karolinska University Hospital, in Sweden, where she contributes to the research line “Food as Medicine”. With a dual background as a researcher and registered dietitian, her work focuses on body composition evaluation, particularly muscle mass and muscle quality, and the nutritional management of individuals with chronic kidney disease.

Before joining Karolinska Institutet and Karolinska University Hospital, Dr. Sabatino spent a decade at the Parma University Hospital (Italy), where she conducted clinical research in renal nutrition and provided nutritional care for patients with CKD, dialysis, kidney transplantation, and acute kidney injury. She holds a PhD from Maastricht University, a Master’s degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Milan, and has earned the Italian national scientific qualification as Associate Professor.

Dr. Sabatino is actively involved in major international societies, including ESPEN, ERA, and ISRNM, where she contributes to guideline development, educational programs, and expert working groups. She is widely published and a frequent speaker at national and international nephrology and clinical nutrition conferences.
